Daynamic Websites and Content Management Systems PDF Print E-mail

Consider if it is worth it...

If your website relies heavily on dynamically generated pages, it certainly makes maintenance easier. However, most search engines will have problems reading dynamic pages. The nature of a dynamic website can make it very difficult, if not impossible for a spider to navigate the site. So while your site may be easier to manage, and even more constantly up to date, you may pay a heavy penalty in search engine positioning.

If you do, do it right

If you will use dynamic pages, make sure you can employ Search Engine Friendly URLs.  Many people use content management systems such as Joomla (which this site runs on), PostNuke, Xoops, etc.  All of these have plugin modules that allow you to quickly and easily add support for search engine friendly urls, causing the pages on your site to be crawlable.
